The U.X. Open is owned and operated by
UXGA Tour Properties, LLC. It's founder and managing member,
Rick Ryan, a 20-year sports marketing professional, created
and developed the property by combining his love for golf
and skiing with the still emerging popularity of outdoor
and action sports.
The inaugural U.X. Open was staged on Aug. 27, 1999
at Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon, NJ. In 2000, the
tour expanded to four qualifying events (Northstar at
Tahoe, Mountain Creek, Jiminy Peak and Snowshoe Mountain).
The 2000 Championship was televised on espn2. The 2001
Tour featured three qualifying events (Skyline Ski Area,
49º North, and Holiday Valley) and the Championship
at Holiday Valley televised on The Golf Channel. The
2002 U.X. Open featured three qualifying events (Mammoth
Mountain, 49º North and Wildcat Mountain). The
Championship was held on September 28, 2002 at 49º
North and was televised as a primetime one-hour special
on The Golf Channel. Last year, four qualifying events
were conducted (Mammoth Mountain, Bromley, Wildcat and
Snowmass) with the Championship at Snowmass.
