Open consists of playing a golf ball of size not smaller
that 1.65 inches in diameter from the teeing area into
the designated goal area by successive strokes with not
more than four clubs of generally accepted golf club specifications. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: DQ
Rule
II
All
competitions will be conducted by the U.X. Open Committee
and certain local rules will be published at each event.
The player is responsible for knowing and adhering to
all rules established by the U.X. Open Committee for that
event. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: DQ
Rule
III
The
player shall be ready to start the appointed round at
the time set by the local authority. The player shall
ensure that each hole and round is completed within the
time limit set by the local authority. If a round must
be suspended due to weather the local authority shall
ensure the safety of the players. The round will resume
at the point of suspension only when the local authority
authorizes resumption. Each player is responsible for
submitting an accurate scorecard signed and attested by
another competitor. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: DQ
Rule
IV
The
player may get advice and have the line of play indicated
to him by anyone. The ball may be played from anywhere
within the teeing ground and may be teed. The ball shall
be played as it lies or the player may improve their lie
every shot, not more than one clublength (farther from
the goal) and place the ball in a new position. Any loose
impediments such as twigs, stones, cups, cans, etc. may
be moved if they interfere with the player's play. The
player must accept the stance given him by the course
and shall take no action to alter the stance. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: 2 strokes
Rule
V
If
the player plays a stroke at a ball other than his/her
own, he/she must add 2 penalty strokes to his score and
complete play of the hole with the original ball. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: DQ
Rule
VI
A
ball is lost when it is not found by the player within
5 minutes of the player beginning search. The player must
place a ball at the point of entry into the woods or at
a point determined by the group where the ball was lost.
Penalty: 1 stroke. PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE: 2 strokes
Rule
VII
The
winner of the competition is the competitor who completes
the appointed number of rounds in the fewest number of
strokes, including any penalty strokes. In the case that
the competitors remain tied through the completion of
ten holes, there will be a one (1)-hole playoff to determine
the winner. In the case of a tie on the playoff hole,
the winner will be determined by the competitor that ends
the hole closest to the flag.
Rule
VIII
The
local authority conducting the competition shall have
final say in all disputes and may impose penalties not
specifically alluded to above in extreme cases in which
the integrity of the competition may be compromised.
